UNDERSTANDING THE SELF - EDUC B

This course focuses on the principles of ethical behavior in modern society at the level of the person, society, and in interaction with the environment and other shared resources. It also deals with the standards of right and wrong that an individual originally picks up from the community. It teaches students to make moral decisions by using dominant moral frameworks to analyze and solve moral dilemmas.

This is the first experiential course, which will immerse a future teacher to actual classroom situation and learning environment where direct observation of teaching learning episodes that focuses on the application of educational theories learned in content and pedagogy courses will be made. Observations on learners’ behavior, motivation, teacher’s strategies of teaching, classroom management, assessment in learning among others shall be given emphasis. A portfolio shall be required in the course.

Theories & Concepts 3 (The Teaching Profession)

This course deals with the teacher as a person and as a professional within the context of national and global teachers’ standards and educational philosophies. It will include professional ethics, core values, awareness of professional rights, privileges and responsibilities as well as the teachers’ roles in the society as a transformative agent of change.

1B-Literacy Training Service (w/Environmental Protection and UNICEF's Sustainable Development Goals)

The Literacy Training Service (LTS) is a program designed as a service component of the NSTP that focuses on promoting functional literacy and numeracy among children, youth, and adults in underserved communities. It aims to develop students’ competencies in community-based instruction through the planning, implementation, and evaluation of literacy and numeracy sessions. The teaching-learning activities are focused on preparing future educators to become effective facilitators of learning and advocates of inclusive education. This course also integrates environmental protection and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly on quality education, climate action, and life on land, to instill ecological awareness and social responsibility. Thus, the program cultivates civic engagement, values formation, and sustainable development, enabling students to contribute meaningfully to nation-building and global citizenship.

Living in the IT Era explains how the influence of Information Technology defines the way we live today. It identify the different discoveries and inventions on computers that help mold Information Technology as we know it.

DYNAMICS OF INTRA AND INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS

This course explores the foundations, theories, and applications of intrapersonal and interpersonal relations, emphasizing the role of self-awareness, self-concept, emotional intelligence, communication, empathy, and social skills in building effective relationships. It highlights the relevance of these dynamics to the personal and professional lives of future Values Education teachers in fostering positive teacher-student and human interactions grounded in Filipino values and ethical principles.

FOUNDATION OF VALUES EDUCATION

This course explores the philosophical, psychological, socio-cultural, and legal foundations of Values Education. It examines the nature, goals, and theories of Values Education, its implications in the Philippine context, and equips students with the understanding needed to promote moral and values development in diverse educational settings

THE TEACHER AND THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM

This course includes the study of the fundamental research-based concepts and principles in curriculum and curriculum development as a foundation to engage prospective teachers as curricularists. It also focuses on the more active role of the teacher in planning a developmentally-sequenced teaching-learning process; identifying constructively-aligned learning outcomes and competencies; contextualizing, localizing and indigenizing curricula; implementing relevant and responsive learning programs; and evaluating the curriculum towards its improvement. The teachers’ individual, collegial and collaborative roles in managing school curriculum change vis-à-vis various contexts of teaching-learning, curricular requirements and curricular reforms shall also be given emphasis.

FACILITATING LEARNER-CENTERED TEACHING

This course explores the fundamental principles, processes and practices anchored on learner-centeredness and other educational psychologies as these apply to facilitate various teaching-learning delivery modes to enhance learning.

CHILD AND ADOLESCENT LEARNERS AND LEARNING PRINCIPLES

This course focuses on child and adolescent development with emphasis on current research and theory on the biological, linguistic, cognitive, social and emotional dimensions of development. Further, this includes factors that affect the progress of development of the learners and shall include appropriate pedagogical principles applicable for each developmental level.

       This course deals with the nature of identity, as well as the factors and forces that affect the development and maintenance of personal identity and is intended to facilitate the exploration of the issues and concerns regarding self and identity to arrive at a better understanding of one’s self. It strives to meet this goal by stressing the integration of the personal with the academic contextualizing matters discussed in the classroom and in the everyday experiences of students-making for better learning, generating a new appreciation, for the learning process, and developing a more critical and reflective attitude while enabling them to manage and improve their selves to attain a better quality of life.
