Anatomy and Physiology is a lecture-laboratory based course that investigates the structure and function of the human body. Topics covered will include the basic organization of the body and major body systems along with the impact of diseases on certain systems. Students will engage in many topics and competencies related to understanding the structure and function of the human body. Working with topics of basic anatomical terminology to the biochemical composition of the human body, all the way into great detail of each of the major systems of the body, students will learn through reading, video lessons, case studies, collaborative group work, interactive discussions, projects and laboratory activities.

This course focuses on the principles of ethical behavior in modern society at the level of the person, society, and in interaction with the environment and other shared resources. It also deals with the standards of right and wrong that an individual originally picks up from the community. It teaches students to make moral decisions by using dominant moral frameworks to analyze and solve moral dilemmas.

Purposive Communication is about writing, speaking, and presenting to different audiences and for various purposes. It is a three-unit course that develops students’ communicative competence and enhances their cultural and inter-cultural awareness through multimodal tasks that provide them opportunities for communicating effectively and appropriately to a multicultural audience in a local or global context. It equips students with tools for critical evaluation of a variety of texts and focuses on the power of language and the impact of images to emphasize the importance of conveying messages responsibly. The knowledge, skills, and insights that students gain from this course, may be used in their other academic endeavors, their chosen disciplines, and their future careers as they compose and produce relevant oral, written, and audio-visual and/or web-based output for various purposes.
